I am a well-organized teacher, researcher, and curriculum designer with extensive experience of using both English and Swedish in my work. Since obtaining my MA in Historical Research from Lancaster University I have mainly pursued a career in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and literature at high schools and universities. Since then, I have gained a CELTA certificate, as well as more than 9 years of full-time teaching experience at universities, high schools, and training centres in China and Vietnam. In the future I wish to continue developing as an EAP teacher and curriculum developer.

apparently they submitted some false test results to WADA. Would be nice to know this from the article though, rather than have to find it on a different site (http://www.bbc.com/sport/36109146). Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Over 13 million Abortions Performed in China Every Year

Just reading through the above statistics, it seems more than a little unreliable. 13% of girls admitted to getting pregnant but 48% of boys. Seems the truth might lie in between somewhere. Either way unwanted pregnancies is becoming a bigger problem by the year in China. So I have to agree with kasuka91 that safe ... Full Comment>>

"It was speculated that ... the two workers had already finished their official duties by the time they decided to go fishing in that spot". Seems pretty unlikely that they had finished their jobs properly if they were able to go fishing there. Full Comment>>

The woman campaigning for genuine universal (Western) suffrage did a fantastic job and it should definitely be watched. A classic speech that pretty much explains the Hong Kong perspective on this false "reform". Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Quick Solve: Foreigners Robbed, Beijing Police Solve the Case in an Hour

The whole story is very unsurprising really. The police found the robber because they most likely already knew who he was and could see the security tape to back this up. Not the greatest accomplishment but good for the guys to get their stuff back anyway. Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Drivers in Beijing Lamborghini, Ferrari Drag Racing Crash Fined, Jailed

The fines are really insignificant for these little emperors. 8-10k plus some jail time that they probably won't end up serving anyway isn't much of a punishment for extremely dangerous drag racing close to the centre of Beijing. Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Lion Kills Breeder in Shandong, Is Shot by Police

I am seriously wondering about the background of this story. Lions don't normally attack their breeders if they are treated well (I think). Also why did it take armed police and 6 or 7 shots to kill one lion? Full Comment>>

I liked one of the variations of the saying above - "No zuo no die, why you try, you try you die, don’t ask why", says a lot about Chinese culture. It manages to include a Chinglish saying, not trying, not asking and probably a bit of face in one short sentence. Full Comment>>
