Around China : POSITIONSEEKER01 commented on news Chinese Government Cleans up Porn Sites and Illegal Publications

What the Chinese government doesn't know is that the world doesn't only speak Chinese and English. There are other languages too and many of these are spoken by hundreds of millions. All censorship in China is directed at the content on those two languages. Full Comment>>

Nepal is India in cultural, historical, and ethnic terms. Whether the political map of today reflects that or not is a different issue altogether. Buddhism is a splinter of Hinduism, anyway. Full Comment>>

This article is a good concise introductory outline. I beg to differ in one little detail though. Bon Po in Tibet and other folk religions -if you wish paganlike- originate in various areas of what today is China in addition to Taoism and Confucianism. Taoism is usually found in syncretism with folk beliefs, ... Full Comment>>

Articles : POSITIONSEEKER01 commented on news Light a Candle: Overcoming Discrimination in China’s ESL Market

Youy have no clue of linguistics. The national origin or the citizenship of an individual doesn't determine his accent. Speakers holding the same passport have dramatically diverging levels of ability. Of course, a Spaniard or an Argentinan will often have a clearer "accent" (whatever that means in phonetics) than ... Articles : POSITIONSEEKER01 commented on news Light a Candle: Overcoming Discrimination in China’s ESL Market

Most Chinese as well as many native speakers do discriminate against non-native speakers in various ways that may or may no be fair depending on other factors to be taken into account. What should be here noticed though is that, within the educational market, both of the aforementioned social groups reinforce each ... Full Comment>>

Guess what? Nabokov was not a native speaker and sold many more books than most native speakers ever will. Henry Kissinger will get paid just to speak much more than most native speakers ever will. Furthermore, the lexical range of English after the Middle English period owes a lot to the contributions of non-native ... Full Comment>>

Articles : POSITIONSEEKER01 commented on news Light a Candle: Overcoming Discrimination in China’s ESL Market

Unlawful employment discrimination -not just discrimination- is defined as a preference for some individuals versus others whenever that preference is not based on the actual ability to perform at the occupation in question. Dark skin doesn't prevent anyone from being a good teacher. Coming from a social, ... Full Comment>>

China does issue Z visas to citizens of countries whose national language is not Engish; even to teach English. Can you guess how I happen to know this for a fact? America and Britain are a melting pot of various ethnicities to a limited degree only and in certain social settings only. The "white" wasp is the ... Full Comment>>

I am going to make it easier just for you and make up for your lack of either reading comprehension or interpretative ability by giving you an example. There is a major logical gap in your argument. The fact that some or many non native speakers make mistakes doesn't imply that all non native speakers of Enlish make them as well. The fact that you haven't -say- found them either doesn't equate with proper or believable statistics either. After spending 30% of my ... Full Comment>>
