They "smashed through" an elevator door? Either the Incredible Hulk got involved in this fight or someone should be checking into the quality of these "elevator doors". Full Comment>>

I would do the same thing. In China, if everyone knows you got money... you won't have it for very long at all. Full Comment>>

I hate to be the one to tell you this but from the sounds of your situation, things will only get worse from here... overall I mean. There will be happy and interesting little moments inbetween, which makes it easier (and sharing your problems with other expats). Chinese, how to put this nicely, reframe from using ... Articles : Robk commented on news My Chinese Spouse: Love Has No Borders

This is a decent article. A lot of it is very true and foreigners are given a free pass in terms of many things that would not be applied to Chinese men. We also have a whole new set of problems and difficulties to adjust to but having a nice, kind Chinese wife certainly makes the whole process easier. Full Comment>>

Well, now that officials are being brought back from Western countries and not allowed to just jump ship when they crap in the bed... MAYBE they will start thinking about a greener and less corrupted China for the sake of their grandchildren. People start to thinking differently when they realize they HAVE to live ... Around China : Robk commented on news More Passengers Behaving Badly: Chongqing Passenger Opens Airplane Safety Door

Well, just the other day I was taking the speed train and was waiting to get on the train. I was first in the line and obviously waiting for the people to get off the train first before I could get on. I noticed the people behind me fighting their animalistic nature to charge on the train into the people getting ... Full Comment>>

That's true. It does just say exit. Of course the stewardess is suppose to explain it is only for emergencies and there are pamphlets in every chair... But we are talking about Chinese people here. Full Comment>>

Around China : Robk commented on news Good Samaritan Jumps into River to Save Naked Girl: No One Helps Him Out

Well, I wouldn't expect a "Thank you". The girl is obviously traumatized by some kind of ordeal or just wants to die. A person in both of these situations won't just quickly thank someone for helping them because they don't know what they are doing or they WANT to die. Good guy but don't expect gratitude. As for the ... Full Comment>>

Not a bad post, as usually you try to bring an uplifting feel. I would agree with traveling as it has simply no equal. Blogs : Robk commented on hadleyj09 's blog Traveling and What it Means to Me

That's not true at all. Black people in my city are very warmly welcomed and the initial Chinese-distance barrier is very quick to collapse if you are polite and can speak some Chinese. At first they may look at you like this or that but that's just their defence because many of them are very insecure. It is really ... Full Comment>>

@laowaigentleman - I agree but a lot can change in 70 years (which is the lease). I doubt the government will just say... "Okay everyone! Hand in your homes!". More than likely, they will offer up some kind of compensation or allow you to extend it. Taking away everyone's homes without compensation is huge grounds ... Full Comment>>

She shouldn't have done that... well she should have (for the revenge part)... but now her family is probably going to get investigated and thrown in a re-education camp for corruption. 200 million RMB? That seems legit. Full Comment>>

I wouldn't call myself "financially illterate". I just prefer to ride/drive my own vehicles. Live in my own house and spend my time to the best it can be anywhere. I can always ship the car off to my home country and rent out/sell my apartment here in China... so meh. Finanaces are not a concern to me, I would glady ... Full Comment>>

@laowaigentleman Well he is doing something right. He admitted before to being an ESL teacher with different ambitions in mind.
