I agree that not allowing other ethnicities to be considered Chinese citizens carries with it a certain racist element. Your point about the Russians and Uighurs is one that I agree with. I don't think you can really call it a "racist, xenophobic element". The fact remains that if you are a caucasian you could never call yourself Chinese even if you were married to a Chinese national. In countries such as the UK or US for example, anybody of any ethnic origin can be a national of those ... Full Comment>>
