Yeah, I suppose. I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing happened at school, but it seems weird when it happens between people out in public who don't seem to be acquainted :/ Full Comment>>

Finbar on news Bad China Day? British Expat Turns to Robbery and Violence(29 comments)

Nov 02,2014 18:10 comment|52277|257437

I don't really see the connection between feeling insulted and deciding to rob someone. Having had issues with the police here, I'm inclined to call bullshit on this whole story. If it is true, the guy's a bit of a weirdo. Full Comment>>

I don't think it's as easy as walking up to someone and asking whether they'd go and unblock your website... Censorship in China was hot topic during the Olympics, and at that time the government simply denied actively censoring websites like Facebook. If they say they're not the ones to blame, asking them to do ... Full Comment>>

Still, even when it's obvious there is anti-Japanese/foreign sentiment (particularly in the media), it sounds more likely to me like the guy couldn't hold his liquor or was just a dick, than that he got tricked into it. I've seen some weird shit happen when drinking with Japanese friends, and actually wouldn't be ... Full Comment>>

Four years should be plenty of time to get to a decent level, especially considering that his wife and her relatives would be able to give him pointers (even teachers here joke about the need for students to get a local girlfriend). Finbar on news The Lost Years: Difficulties Facing Chinese Employees of Foreign Companies (4 comments)

Sep 16,2014 13:28 comment|50867|257437

I actually thought this was a fairly decent article. The fact that Chinese companies/government make it hard for foreigners to further their career in China doesn't mean the opposite can't be true. If anything, I'd expect a little empathy towards Chinese employees in foreign companies experiencing similar problems. Full Comment>>

Finbar on news 5 Ways to Combat Homesickness in China(5 comments)

Sep 02,2014 13:58 comment|50379|257437

I think the best way to combat home sickness is just to keep busy. I never felt home sick the first year and a half or so that I spent in China, because I was simply too busy having fun, drinking and making friends. It was after a while, when things settled down and I started having a lot of time to myself, that I ... Full Comment>>

The whole magical semen thing seems unnecessary. I mean, either he rapes the girls, or bullshits them into doing it voluntarily. Doing both seems a bit odd. Full Comment>>

Aug 28,2014 14:17 comment|50161|257437

The whole premise of this article is a load of shit, as it seems to assume both Chinese and foreign men all share their own respective personalities. Chinese men all behave in a certain way, and foreign men all behave in a certain way. That's basically the impression I got from this article. Not only does it bunch ... Full Comment>>

Somehow, I get the impression that the survey's questions were biased (shocker!). I can't imagine the survey having contained answers like 'Theyre rude/arrogant/selfish/etc', even though there should be. This seems more like yet another way to boost one's ego, rather than a survey of actual value. How are ... Full Comment>>

I agree that a lot of foreigners here drive just as poorly as the locals, and of course it's idiotic how it's usually the same people who complain about Chinese society who are the first to drop their own morals and act like morons.
