Ivan Kostromitin graduated from the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in 2003 with a degree in percussion instruments from Anatoly Ivanov, People's Artist of Russia, who from 1965 to 1999 worked as a timpani soloist for the Honored Collective of Russia Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic conducted by E.A.Mravinsky, and then Yu.Temirkanova. After graduating from the Conservatory, he worked in the best St. Petersburg symphony orchestras, including the Academic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and toured with them in many European countries, the United States, Japan, and China. After graduating from the Conservatory, he performed in the symphonic and variety orchestras of St. Petersburg and Russia. He has worked with many prominent musicians of our time – Yuri Temirkanov, Maris Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Placido Domingo, Montserrat Caballe, Jose Carreras, Luciano Povarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Vasily Sinaisky, Yuri Simonov, Maxim Shostakovich, Mstislav Rostropovich, Theodor Kurendzis and many others. Winner of three International competitions.From 2003 to the present, he has been a teacher of melodic percussion instruments. Since 2011, he has been an artist of the main composition of the MarimbaMix melodic percussion ensemble. Since 2019, he has been the artistic director of two Latin American projects: SabrosoMix and the Los Sabrosos Band orchestra, which premiered at the Philharmonic of Jazz Music in 2021, and regularly gives concerts in the best halls of St. Petersburg and Russia, including the halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Capella, and many others.
