Buddhism is Indian originally, but the Chinese think they invented everything. Many bodhisattvas are pictured with their "consorts" in artistic representations (e.g. Vajrasattva). I was not referring to their use of Katakana as evidence of their language's growth, but their use of a word which is very similar to the one used globally.
