Sound of the dice games... Anyone? When I arrived in China I simply changed my name to "Lao Wai" and felt like a bloody rockstar everytime they'd call me :-P Coincedentally my (Dutch) nickname is Lau... Full Comment>>

Had similar experiences with Didi, except for the threats part (which would probably have me wave the same cab again and deal with it in person). Full Comment>>

Articles : Lauwrence commented on news 5 Reasons I am back in China: Reverse Culture Shock is Real

Articles : Lauwrence commented on news Scoot in Style: Life with a Scooter in China

I used to ride my electric scooter here in Xiamen, but it's just too dangerous. Motorists don't give a damn about you and will gladly push you and your plastic vehicle into the kerb or guard rail, that includes buses, you know, the tons of steel that typically always win? The days that I'd blindly get on 2 wheels ... Full Comment>>

Articles : Lauwrence commented on news Don't Worry, Be Happy: 6 Tips to Enjoy Your Stay in China

I would like to add one more tip to your list, one I believe to be the most important one: Accept China. I tell myself this every time I come across something weird, even to a point whereby most would call it unacceptable. But this is China, and you're a guest. Full Comment>>
