Around China : Pineappletree1 commented on news Inflatable Sex Dolls a Popular Buy on Singles’ Day

Japan aborts more than its fare share of female fetuses. But yes, i will level with you that it is an unfair comparison of Japan to China. I used to teach English here. Now I mainly teach civility. I got really pissed off at the new Bond movie (which was not worth the two hours I wasted in that theater) over one ... Full Comment>>

Around China : Pineappletree1 commented on news Beijing College Students Hire Substitutes to Take Their Place in Class

I don't think you have ever been in a University science and engineering program within a credited American university let alone got a degree from one. By the way, who says troll anymore? I think you have been in China too long. Time to go back to where you came from and get caught up with current cultural lingo. ... Full Comment>>

Around China : Pineappletree1 commented on news Beijing College Students Hire Substitutes to Take Their Place in Class

This happens in the states too, that's why you must present your ID at exams. Chinese are even known to hire substitutes to take their English competency interview for entering a graduate program. It doesn't work in the long run, my professors said each year there is one that is dumb enough to do that, unaware that ... Full Comment>>

Articles : Pineappletree1 commented on news Foreign Backpacker Beggar in Guangzhou: Scammer or Traveler in Need?

I after reading most of the comments I think most of you are just jealous that he found an easier way to make money in China than we did. I would do the same if I didn't have dignity which as it turns out is very expensive and has cost me quite a bit of money from missing out on scams like this one. I don't care, ... Full Comment>>

Around China : Pineappletree1 commented on news Tour Guide Arrested in Hainan after Ripping Off Japanese Tourist

It will be a long time before I visit Hainan. I have no idea what it is like down there and my host family is from the island. All they manage to tell me about it is that the locals are only interested in stealing and ripping off tourists. The story I hear the most is the visitor approaches a restaurant. He asks, ... Pai dui: learn it and speak it in a strong deep unyielding tone. If there are many people around they will get very embarrassed you called them out and might even walk away. I have never had one argue the point. The people that cut the line most in Shenzhen are small children, middle aged Chinese from the ... Full Comment>>

I enjoy the reverse racism. It is better than them wanting to beat me or kill me because I am white. Let them have their little primitive cultural blemishes. This will just look silly in the future compared to anything you read about Birmingham, Alabama or the civil rights movement. I just look back in horror at ... Full Comment>>

Articles : Pineappletree1 commented on news Office Space: 6 Ways to Connect with your Chinese Colleagues

I agree. I quit my last job because of #3. One of my co-workers mother died, so she asked to take leave to go home for the funeral. The Hongkong boss said, "No, that is not important enough. If you go, you will be fired and we will not pay you your due salary." I ended up having issues with this person myself. It ... Full Comment>>

The campsites usually do have nice views, but if you look closely at the ground you will see it is littered with tons of food waste. I understand that everyone wants to go back home for this particular holiday, but the large crowds and over crowed trains make it a most undesirable and at time dangerous journey.
