All civil servants they were, paid 36 rmb, at the mass level nobody rich nobody poor (rich/poor is relative) but 99% suffered material poverty. Nope. They told me they didn't need to lock the door as there was nothing to steal. Not only could few afford meat (any) it was rationed, ie CCP gave you food tickets meaning even if you have the money you couldn't buy meat when you used up your quota. Full Comment>>
