You are the 3rd or 4th person to reply saying "I was more successful than you and am happier being an esl teacher". I appreciate you aren't trying to be a dick here; you may very well know more than me about finance and that's great your tech company did well. Your situation, though is 100% irrelevant to ... Definitely man. "Because the chinese do it" is a terrible reason to do anything. People here aren't willing to get confrontational for whatever reason over smoking or line cutting etc but that doesn't mean they don't think it's trashy as hell. I have to agree with David555 here...when other families do something it's because they are mindlessly chasing luxuries (i don't deny that's a problem) but when your family does it you are behaving rationally? That's a slippery slope. I'm with you 100% though that china needs to get it's shit together when it comes ... Full Comment>>

I agree very well put. China has historically been a tributary nation, paying off mongol hordes and foreign armies to leave them alone. Their culture does a great job of setting up a hierarchy to insulate people at the top, but then since that power is based solely on their position in the hierarchy it doesn't work ... I agree; I also don't like their inability to produce food safely affects prices in other countries. The fact that milk powder here repeatedly has contained poison should be viewed as a serious failing of Chinese culture (frankly where else does this happen?) and Chinese people alone should bear the consequences of ... I think it is a preference for foreign imports, at least to an extent. I think of China as having two kinds of consumers: 'average zhou's' who pretty much have base all their purchase decisions on price and aren't really very open to try new things, and people who aren't price-sensitive at all or in fact will buy ... I also, don't agree with you either, as well.
