We as Teachers have a profound nature of sharing whatever we have earned in this life. Whether it’s an experience related to work, a concept in understanding the various functions of life, how to express our emotions and how to develop a connection with the younger ones so they can benefit from our time and our learning experiences. The symbol of a teacher is like a tree full of ripe and sweet fruits. If we aren’t doing our job the tree metaphor won’t be relevant. Even though if we can’t benefit the students the least we can do is to guide them on the path where they can do their best. I remember my time when I was confused about what am I good at? Which profession and which field of occupation will suit me the best? My teachers were my mentors and my guide. They gave me the opportunity to lecture in my college even though when I had very little knowledge. They helped me to understand that I can be good at explaining and communicating while understanding the audience and finding a way to elaborate the main principles of the fact through simple words and examples that could be found in every day life observations. It was fun to begin to know that I can easily grasp any difficult concept and then can hand it down on to my audience in the simplest manner as possible. Teaching chemistry with human psychology was one of the best metaphors for explaining the need for 8 electrons in outermost shell. The octet rule and why atoms have the ability to react? Indeed we adopt many methods from our great teachers but somehow we manage to add some more spices to add our signature to the recipe. Now exploring new cultures, traditions and cuisines in various countries is another luxury we teachers can afford very easily. I guess it’s one of the virtues of teaching that we get. We usually hang out with our students at late night camp fire where they prepare their cultural food along with their traditional tea and other desserts. We get to learn how to honour each other’s beliefs and way of life. Traveling also shows its benefits in seeing the nature’s beauty and breath taking landscapes. In the end I would say that “We as teachers try to find even the smallest beautiful habit in a student that would give us the opportunity to encourage him to start realising his true potential and God gifted abilities to master them throughout the journey of his life”. We don’t demand much in return but we wish to see them nurture, grow healthy and successful in their professional endeavours.
