Character introduction:

Songtsen Gampo, (Tibetan language: Songzain Gambo), the 33rd Zanpu of the Tubo Kingdom, is actually the king of the Tubo Kingdom. During the reign (629-650 years), Songtsan Gambo was the most important and widely known Tibetan king in Tibetan history. Songtsan Gambo made outstanding achievements in his lifetime. He unified Tibet and officially established the Tubo Kingdom.

The Tubo people originally believed in the Bon religion. It is said that the Tubo King use ruled the country with Bon, the Bon main activities are the divination, pray blessing and disaster relief. Until Songtsan Gambo introduced Buddhism from the  Tang dynasty and imported Buddha images, Buddhist scriptures, and French objects into Tubo, Buddhism began to be introduced to Tubo.

Cultural Construction

In order to promote the exchange and development of the Han and Tibetan national culture. Songtsan Gambo moved the capital to Lhasa and built the Potala Palace, divided Tibet into six administrative regions; promoted Buddhism; married Princess Wencheng, and built the Jokhang Temple and the Xiaozhao Temple; and many more. Songzan Gambo's cultural achievements, the most famous is the creation of language. In the early 7th century, Songtsan Gambo sent 16 aristocratic children to study in Tianzhu (India) to study Sanskrit and Western languages. After repeated comparisons, different forms of simple and easy-to-write strokes were created, and 30-letter Tibetan Pinyin characters (both consonants) were created, and consonants were superimposed or a certain symbol was added to the consonants to form a consonant. In addition, four vowel symbols were designed and added to the upper and lower sides of the letters to spell Tibetan.

Historical status:

The Tibetans have always respected Songtsan Gambo. He is not only regarded as the embodiment of Guanyin, but also one of the three great kings who are legendary. The other two kings are Akamatsu Dezan and Chizu Dezan.
