1. legal reason to divorce

according to the marriage law of the P.R.C. the couples whose marital relationship is broken can be divorced and apply for an official divorce registration.

2. method to divorce

generally speaking, there are two legal ways to divorce in China, via litigation or through peaceful negotiation.

if the couples can reach a settlement agreement on divorce including the clauses of the bringing up of the child (or children, if any) and the division of the marital property, then divorce can be peaceful and divorce registration can be applied by the couples themselves instead of going to the court.

(1). the passport ( if the passport has been renewed after getting married, then the old passport and the current passport all shall be taken to the office)
(2). the signed agreement on divorce in Chinese version. (the office requires the agreement on divorce in Chinese, the English version is not acceptable, which shall be translated into Chinese and only the Chinese version need to be filed to the office to apply for offical divorce certificate)
