The Great Indian Elections and How China is impacted

The Election fever has gripped India from the beginning of this year when the election dates were were out. All the political parties in power or of it have jumped on the bandwagon. Affiliations dont hold sway in these elections with leaders trying to maximise their output by aligning themselves to parties which they think will probably form the government.

These elections have been the most watched and followed in the history of India and probably the worst when it comes to appeasement by the political parties. The manifesto has tall claims by the ruling Congress Party which is ironical to their previous manifestos. They claim to do things in the next 5 years which they did not do in the last 60 years!  The constituency from where Rahul Gandhi stands and that has been their bastion for the last 4-5 decades has not seen any development whatsoever.

These elections are also highly polarized. The BJP is sticking to the stand of development but all the other parties are trying to create a fear in the minds of minorities by reminding them of riots that took place 12 years ago. The interesting fact here remains that the ruling party INC has seen more riots when in power than the opposition.

No one knows the outcome of these elections , but if we were to go by the opinion polls BJP has a better chance to form the Government, which many feel will be a change desperately needed by the country as it is now tired of the scams, low growth rates, policy paralysis , lawlessness of the present one.

Now how will the new Government work with China. Both are superpowers in the region. India has the aspiration of developing Mumbai like Shanghai and Delhi like Beijing. Will China see the new Government as an friend or as a foe remains to be seen. India needs lot of investment from China to develop its infrastucture.

With the rising wages and costs in China, the exports are becoming very competetive so they might need to focus on developing subsidiaries in countries with lower wages like India.

The new Government is know for its openess to investments and development which should be good for China.
