Often considered the mother of Japanese martial arts, it was first organized and recorded by Minamoto No Yoshimitsune between 1056-1127 AD.

In actual fact it originated in China, Korea and Japan. It was developed by caravan guards, who protected precious cargo being transported along the Silk road. 

Mention of this can be found documented from the time of the Yellow Emperor Huang Di in the Shuai Jiao 2698 BC.

Known as The Gentle Art it was developed for and by the elite samurai clans (Families). Samurai wearing lacquered bamboo armour had to be able to enter pitched battles among hundreds of enemies and try to survive. Due to the protection offered by the armor and some restriction of movement they developed Ju jutsu as an armed and unarmed form of combat. 

The art is designed to be minimum effort for maximum effect !

With an army to fight, you don't want to be exhausted after first fight !

Size and strength are not the goal of this art.

Ju Jutsu means Trick, Art, Science, Knowledge of the human body.

A smaller or weaker opponent can easily overcome a bigger and advisery or adviseries.

Samurai Aiki Ju has been redeveloped into other arts and sports more commonly known like Aikido, Hapkido,Judo and Brazillian Ju jitsu.

Samurai Aiki Ju Jutsu is not a sport. It was a closely guarded secret and only taught to elite warriors and family members. These would later be known as schools often bearing the family name and personal style and secrets.

At the time of the American occupation of Japan at the end of WWII, all martial arts were forbidden and the art went back to being taught in secret. It was kept alive by dedicated masters and spread around the world.

Today it is still used by the elite warriors around the world, although they traded their swords for guns. Funnily enough they still use the orginal Ju Jutsu simply applying new techniques to include firearm defence.

After 30 years of training you will still find more to learn. It is more than fighting. It's an art form which offers spiritual and personal development as well as being a way of life.
