My internship has finally drawn to a close, although I am sad to be leaving, there is a great sense of optimism going forward having had a wonderful experience with CRCC Asia and Ugari in Shenzhen. I have nothing but positive things to say about my time here, and hope to come back in the near future.

The final week at Ugari consisted of a somewhat final assault of my market research of the Asian markets and building contacts for my company to progress forward. On the Friday before I left, my company paid for a business trip to Macau in order to meet with some potential clients and visit high-end supermarkets to view the types of products they stock on their shelves.

I have been to Macau a few times in the past and I have always enjoyed the awe that it brings. Macau is a majestically beautiful city, spiralling from one casino to another. It is relatively small, so I managed to walk from one side of the Northern Island to the other side in a few hours. I had a delicious dim sum lunch in yum cha restaurant at the Larc hotel and casino. Macau has a lot to offer as a city, it does not have the same hustle and bustle as Hong Kong and this gives you the chance to freely walk around without the crowds. I managed to rediscover some great dessert houses and a famous ice cream place, one of the many little treats that makes Macau so great.

In Shenzhen, I spent my last weekend Go Karting around the track with some competitive locals which was fantastic fun, and I went to the beach at Xi Chong, a couple of hours East of Shenzhen city. Be warned to arrive early, and be prepared to leave early to avoid the horrendous traffic. Unfortunately the beach that day was covered in litter, but I was welcomed by a crystal blue sea that stayed warm throughout a beautiful end to the week.

On the final few days, I gave a presentation to my company bosses and fellow employees on what I had learnt and identified from the projects that could be developed further. They also very kindly took me out to a beautiful Anhui style lunch. Overall, my company really treated me well and provided me with a great set of skills I will use in the future. They are also people I can turn to in the future, not only in business but also as friends.

I hope to continue this relationship I have built with Ugari in the future and continue to assist on the projects that I was assigned. I could see myself spending more time in Shenzhen as it has a lot to offer as a city and is conveniently located in China with Hong Kong and Macau on its doorstep. It was sad to leave Shenzhen, two months is simply not enough and if I was to recommend to anyone reading this who is thinking of undertaking an internship I would suggest going for the full experience of 3 months to get a flavour of living and working China.

I flew out from Hong Kong back to London and was met by a bitterly cold day, however my time back in England seeing family and friends as well as experiencing British culture again has been refreshing. However my plan is to return to China seek business opportunities and travel to new places to really explore this glorious country. I will be returning to Shanghai in September so if anyone has any questions or would like to connect with me through linkedin please feel free to add me and I would be more than happy to share more insight and see what other opportunities may be available for the future.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this blog, and hope to start a new one here in Shanghai very soon.

It has been a pleasure.

再见!
