From what i understand this is an ancient system of divination used by the early Daoists.

It is also referred to as the book of changes, it comprises of 64 hexagrams and can be used to predict the outcome of future events or endeavours.

To better convey this the ancient Daoists believed that there were three things which were supreme or Eternal which are Man, the heavens and the earth. Supreme means going on, going on means going far, and going far means returning to the source, therefore they postulated the inter-relatedness of all events in space/time, and could foretell the future because according to the philosophy, Everything that has not yet hapenned has happened already, and everything that hapenned in the past will happen again
