Liu Bang didn’t need to worry about anything in his boyhood. His family was well off, so he did not need to go out to work for his survival from an early age like most of the children at that time. So he went to “Ma Gong College” to study with Lu Wan, who was born on the same day as Liu Bang.

Speaking of Lu Wan, although he was not as famous as Liu Bang, he was also a famous person in China’s history. So there are a lot of people who think that the Feng Shui(it means the location of a house or tomb, which is supposed to have an influence on the fortune of a family) from Liu Bang’s hometown was good. (Chinese people believe that the residence of a person or the cemeteries of his or her family will affect their development and of their descendants.)

That year, Liu Bang was 17 years old. The unpeaceful Eastern Zhou Dynasty became more uneasy because Qin Shihuang(Ying Zheng), the first emperor of China, began to hold the reins of government even though at that time he was only the king of Qin.

At that time, although Liu Bang was only 17 years old, he was considered an adult. So, one day, Liu Bang’s father sent for him and said, “Son, you are an adult now, you should think about your future. You see, Ying Zheng has already been a King of Qin, although you are not a standard ‘the second generation of an official’, you do not have a very high starting point. However you come from ‘a generation of a rich man’, so, tell me, what do you want to do?”
