Never Too Old!!

Never Too Old!!

"Some people are old at 18 and some are young at 90. Time is a concept that humans created.”  As I have recently retired from a lifetime career in public education, I have come to understand that I am definitely NOT too old for new adventures and have MUCH to offer.

In first looking at teaching English abroad, particularly in China, it seemed that I was never going to have an opportunity, as the general top-end age requirements are, by American standards, quite young.  However, through networking with Chinese colleagues and teachers that I met when they came to America to teach, I have been able to secure a university position for next fall!  I am so excited!!

Of course, I am in very good physical health, but my message to other "olders" out there is, keep trying.  I think the fact that I am an older American actually creates special interest among the Chinese people I have met, both here and in China.  Contact others who have taught or are teaching in China.  Use American university Confucius programs, be ready to verify excellent good health, and pursue this dream!
