Being an avid traveler, I had the opportunity to visit most metropolitan cities worldwide. After making China my home away from home in 2003, visiting Shanghai, one of my favorite cities, became my top priority. Recently, I had the opportunity to fulfill my lifelong dream of exploring its magical wonders.

As a student, I read, extensively, about the city motivated by the mystery surrounding it and portrayed in foreign movies. However, I never imagined that the glory of the city would exceed my expectation and go beyond my wildest imagination.

Shanghai is the Mecca for tourists who are looking for spending their vacations in the comfort and luxury of the city. It succeeded, where most of its international counterparts failed, in fulfilling the diversified desires of adventure and romance seekers.

It harmoniously encompasses monuments of progress along with reminders of its extraordinary glorious history. One can experience the invigorating life of Paris, New York, Montreal or London by walking down the streets of Shanghai while staying at its luxurious five stars hotels or enjoying the fast food frenzy at one of the numerous outlets such as MacDonald, Burger King, Subway, Kentucky Fried Chicken or Pizza Hut.

A tourist, who aches to take a glimpse at its intriguing historical essence, can take a tour visiting the Bund, the Yu Garden, the Nanjing Road, the Oriental Pearl Tower or the People's Square.

Shanghai surpassed other major metropolitan cities in catering to the taste of all classes. It had acquired the well deserved honor of being the city, where both poor and wealthy may claim it, as their favorite travel destination.

Luxurious hotels such as the Marriot, the Meriden, the Kempinski and the Shangri-La hotels  are spread all over Shanghai, where the rich and famous will find a sanctuary to relax while absorbing the elixir of comfort in their facilities of spas, night clubs and fitness centers along with their exotic restaurants that serve Chinese as well as Western dishes.

Middle class tourists would feel at ease being the target of the famous Chinese hospitality, offered by three stars hotels such as Home Inns and 7-Days Inns, without breaking their limited budget. Low-income visitors of the city might easily feel at home being among their Chinese peers

Through the acquisition of diversified knowledge about various cultures and being familiar with traditions and customs of multiple races, one can widen the horizons of one’s mind to enhance the quality of his or her life.

Shanghai, uniquely, occupied the top spot on my list of the cities that I must explore during the span of my life. In Shanghai, inhabitants from all countries merge to form a symphony of universal society in which all individuals stand equal with common desire to enjoy life. They forget their original languages to speak the language of friendship.

Shanghai diverse variety of restaurants will delightfully oblige to fulfill its visitors nourishment desires by offering them a diverse variety of cuisines that almost encompasses Eastern as well as Western famous dishes. One can taste the aromatic Arabic, the ubiquitous American, the exotic French, the sumptuous German, the classical English and the oriental Japanese along with other international cuisines.

Shanghai is the best city in China pertinent to its wonderful nightlife. One may find discos, Karaoke bars (KTV), opera houses, cinemas, amusement parks, concert halls or live theater to pass a memorable evening sharing laughter, listening to music or allowing one’s feet to sweep the floor according to the beat of various types of music.

History buffs can satisfy their inquisitive minds and enhance their historical knowledge by taking a tour to the Old Shanghai City, the Xujiahui Cathedral (St. Ignatius Cathedral), the Jade Buddha Temple and the Longhua Temple & Pagoda among other sights

Dreamers of wealth and fortune will find that Shanghai rises to the occasion to fulfill their dreams. Needless to say, the Chinese government took the necessary measures to facilitate the procedure of establishing foreign corporations in all Chinese cities including one of the three major cities, Shanghai.

Foreigners will discover that Shanghai will profoundly open its arms to envelop them with its warm, friendly and hospitable atmosphere to welcome them as members of its distinguished population.

Shanghai provides writers, photographers, philosophers, artists, intellectuals, martial arts fans, Sino-culture enthusiasts and experiencing Eastern traditions seekers with unlimited resources of inspiration.

Writers, including yours truly, find Shanghai to be a treasure of inspiring achievements that makes their imaginations run wild and eloquent words flow smoothly while penning down their masterpieces of literature.

After spending few days in Shanghai, I had no apprehension in stating that visiting the city left me with memorable moments that will remain vivid, eternally, in my imagination. It is a harmonious blend of modern and ancient civilizations

If you wish to create exhilarating memories of your upcoming holiday, Shanghai is the city to visit. If you are a seeker of fame and fortune and looking for a city to establish your new business, you could not find a better place than Shanghai.

Romantic souls will find a heavenly haven to indulge themselves with romantic dinners, going for long walks hand on hand or having drinks at cozy bars in the city.

I like Shanghai but I have to disagree with your comment about "...famous Chinese hospitality..." China has no idea of what hospitality looks like and especially Shanghai. Perhaps if you pay top dollar you may get treated like a human being but there's no guarantee. My small town has better hospitality than Shanghai.

same, I prefer small towns to Shanghai/Beijing/Shenzen/Guangzhou.....In those big metropolises It feels like you could die on the street with no one caring.

"Famous Chinese hospitality"... Also known as "I will act nicely towards you only as long as I can see a way to use you to my advantage."

Hi, I loved Shanghai during my limited time there. A real mixture of past, present, future. BTW, I will be coming to Changsha to teach in university this August. Perhaps we can meet!

If you'll be teaching in a university, perhaps you should study English grammar first. You can start with 'indefinite articles'.

This might be the most ridiculous, inaccurate and pretentious description I've read in my entire life.

Shanghai is so great its name is also a verb: 1. To kidnap (a man) for compulsory service aboard a ship, especially after drugging him. 2. To induce or compel (someone) to do something, especially by fraud or force.

It 'caters to all tastes' because it has MacDonald's, Burger King etc The Mariot, Shangri-La! Oh please spare the universe. Your article is far too promotional to be considered good advice.
